M.Tech fresher resume format

An M.Tech resume is a specialist document. The value is depth in one area, and the resume should make that depth visible in the first ten seconds rather than reading like a longer B.Tech resume.

The thesis is the centrepiece. Give it a named section with the problem, the method, the result and the publication if there is one.

If you are applying to R&D or a research lab, publications and the GATE score belong high on the page. If you are applying to a product company, projects and tooling matter more and the thesis can compress.

Section order

Top to bottom. The order matters more than the styling, because it decides what a reader sees in the first few seconds.

HeaderName, phone, email, LinkedIn, Google Scholar or ORCID if you have publications.
Research interestsTwo lines. Only for research and R&D applications.
ThesisIts own section, with problem, method, result and guide.
PublicationsFull citation, with the venue named. Above projects if you are applying to research roles.

What has to be on the page

The thesis as a distinct section, with the result stated rather than the topic alone.
Publications in a consistent citation format, with venue and year.
GATE score and rank if competitive, since many PSU and research applications screen on it directly.
Simulation and analysis tools named by package and version where it matters: ANSYS, MATLAB, COMSOL, Abaqus.

Bullets in the right shape

Bracketed values are placeholders. Substitute your own real figures, and leave a line out entirely rather than inventing a number for it.

Thesis: modelled [heat transfer in a microchannel heat sink] in [ANSYS Fluent] across [18] geometry variants, identifying a configuration that improved thermal performance [12%] over the baseline at equal pumping power.

Mistakes that cost this profile interviews

Instead ofDescribing the thesis as a topic without a finding.

Do thisState what you found or built and by how much it improved on the baseline. A topic is a plan; a result is work.

Do thisTwo versions. Research roles want publications and depth up top; product roles want tooling and shipped projects.

Instead ofOmitting the GATE score because the role is private-sector.

Do thisInclude it if it is strong. It is a widely understood signal in Indian engineering hiring, well beyond PSU applications.

Questions

Should an M.Tech resume be one page or two?

One page for industry applications. Two is acceptable for research positions and PhD applications where publications and teaching genuinely need the room, but only when that content exists.

Where does the GATE score go?

In the education section next to the M.Tech entry, with the score and the rank. Put it in the header only when applying to PSUs, where it is the primary screening criterion.
