MCA fresher resume format

The MCA resume has one structural advantage over the BCA and B.Tech versions: a substantial final-year project, usually six months and often industry-sponsored. Treated properly it reads much closer to work experience than to coursework.

Give that project its own block with the sponsor named, the scope stated and the outcome quantified. Burying it in a list with two semester assignments wastes the strongest thing on the page.

Everything else follows the standard fresher order, one page, no declaration.

Section order

Top to bottom. The order matters more than the styling, because it decides what a reader sees in the first few seconds.

HeaderName, phone, email, GitHub, LinkedIn, city.
Technical skillsGrouped by category, with the specialisation visible.
Major projectIts own section. Six months of work should not sit in a bullet list.
Other projectsTwo more, kept to two lines each.
InternshipsIf the major project was industry-sponsored, this may be the same entry. Do not double-count.
EducationMCA, then the graduating degree, then 12th.
CertificationsNamed and dated.

What has to be on the page

The major project as a distinct section, with duration, sponsor if any, stack and outcome.
A specialisation that is visible in the first third of the page, whether that is data, web, cloud or mobile.
Both degrees in Education, with the undergraduate stream stated since MCA cohorts are mixed.
A GitHub link with the major project pushed and documented.

Bullets in the right shape

Bracketed values are placeholders. Substitute your own real figures, and leave a line out entirely rather than inventing a number for it.

Major project ([6 months], sponsored by [company]): built an [inventory reconciliation] service in [Java Spring Boot] processing [~50,000] daily records, cutting the manual reconciliation window from [2 days] to [under 4 hours].

Designed the [PostgreSQL] schema for [11] related entities and wrote the migration path from the client's existing [Excel-based] process, covering [3] years of historical data.

Mistakes that cost this profile interviews

Instead ofListing the major project among four other projects with equal weight.

Do thisGive it its own section. Six months of scoped work is the closest thing to experience you have.

Instead ofOmitting the undergraduate degree because it was not computing.

Do thisInclude it. A BSc or BCom before an MCA is common, and hiding it creates an unexplained gap that a screener will notice.

Instead ofWriting the project description as an abstract, in passive voice.

Do thisWrite it as bullets in active voice, starting with what you built. Save the abstract for the university.

Is an MCA fresher resume different from a B.Tech fresher resume?

Structurally, yes, in one respect: the six-month major project earns its own section rather than sitting in a projects list. Otherwise the same rules apply, one page, projects over coursework, no declaration.

Should I include my undergraduate percentage?

Yes, one line. Many IT services eligibility criteria still check it across all three levels, and leaving it out can get an application filtered before a human reads it.
